Cocolitos is a children’s brand created in Barcelona that designs and produces objects meant to accompany childhood and family life through play, exploration and everyday learning.
The project was born from the need to find local alternatives that respect both people and nature. Each piece aims to be functional, beautiful and open to the imagination of those who use it.
It is not the easiest path, but it is the one that makes the most sense.
My name is Lali Delgado and I am a designer.
In 2022, with the arrival of motherhood, I began to rethink many personal and professional decisions. Having someone to guide through their first discoveries led me to reflect on the kind of example I wanted to be and the values I wanted to bring into our home.
Through this process I reconnected with a very essential part of myself: the child who loved creating with her hands, inventing, drawing, and discovering how materials could shape new realities.
Soon I realized that many baby products did not respond to clear principles of design or sustainability. So I began sewing and developing small alternatives at home, searching for materials and objects that felt more consistent with the way I wanted to raise a family and live in the world.
In doing so, many childhood memories resurfaced: objects, textures and colours that had once sparked my curiosity. Looking back, I see how my parents always tried to nurture that inclination: afternoons in the craft shop with my mother, or modelling small “cocolitos” out of plasticine with my father on the black round table in our dining room.
The name Cocolitos comes from there. In biology, coccoliths are the plates with which certain unicellular microalgae build their structure. For me, they were also the small figures I shaped with my father. Today they have become the metaphor behind this project: something built piece by piece.
