I'm starting this blog the way many important things are started:
without a solid plan, but with a clear need to stop and make space for what's on my mind.
I'm starting this blog with a lot of enthusiasm. Even before Cocolitos was born, my head was full of ideas to communicate for the project I had in mind: tricks, processes, materials, technique... And can you believe that throughout this journey I haven't stopped for a second to write? And by writing, I mean picking up a pencil or a pen and letting thoughts flow, those that seem disorganized, without bullet points.
I enjoy writing. Years ago, in college, I became a calligraphy fanatic... something I learned from very good teachers. Every time I think by hand, I enjoy making the letters dance to the rhythm of my thoughts. And right now, for example, I'm amazed that all this rambling is making sense towards what I really want to say.
For some reason —perhaps because being a first-time entrepreneur makes you wear as many hats as you have branches of imagination, and I have plenty of that— until now I hadn't been able to stop and let go. Letting go: a curious goal I've set for myself this year with the help of my therapist. It was she, in fact, who a few days ago suggested I write down everything that was buzzing in my head. I thought other kinds of things would come out... but it was like pulling the plug, and suddenly, this started to flow. So, if by chance you happen to read me here, Cristina, I send you a hug.
These days, I've also reconnected with writing from a more everyday place. I've read that dedicating a few minutes a day to writing —without structure, without specific goals— can help organize thoughts, improve attention, and alleviate that mental noise that sometimes accompanies us. I don't know if it's an exact science or simple intuition, but the truth is that sitting down to write has had exactly that effect on me.
This blog is born with that intention: to stop, organize, and share. To share processes, materials, decisions, and learnings about Cocolitos, without magic formulas or absolute promises. With the desire to provide useful and honest information, and also a bit of good humor, about the objects that surround childhood and how we use, care for, and live with them.
Hopefully, this space will become another beautiful and important part of Cocolitos. A place to think calmly and critically.
