Our history

Cocolitos is a childcare brand that creates objects to accompany children and families in their growth through play and exploration. It was born from the need to find local alternatives that respect both nature and people, with the aim of making this world a more beautiful place in which to grow together. Each product is designed to be useful, beautiful and accessible to everyone.

About Cocolitos

My name is Lali Delgado and I am a designer. In 2022, following the birth of my daughter, I began a deep process of self-discovery that led me back to my own childhood, and to what truly makes me feel aligned: the creativity that comes from working with my hands and the sensory value of materials.

I can clearly remember how certain objects, textures and colours shaped the way I observed the world. My parents always encouraged my creative drive: unforgettable afternoons with my mother in the craft shop, or with my father, modelling little figures out of playdough on the round black table in our dining room.

That was when the idea that gives this project its name was born: cocolitos. In biology, cocolitos are the plates or scales with which certain unicellular microalgae, the coccolithophores, build their structure. For me, they were the small playdough creations I made with my father – a marine biologist – and today they have become the metaphor that sustains this brand: creating through play, building something lasting from something small.

Purpose

Cocolitos is not just a childcare brand, it is a space for artisanal creation located in Barcelona. Here I design sustainable objects that encourage autonomy, exploration, and free play, always with a commitment to caring for children and the planet.

As a child of the 90s, I have vivid memories of the basic colourful toys I spent hours with, the memory games made of cardboard illustrated with charming fonts, and the children's books I still enjoy today with my daughter.

My greatest hope and vision for success is that, by combining the goal of supporting children's education with the use of low-impact materials, Cocolitos can help create memories as beautiful and lasting as the ones I had learning through play.
